Protak Scientific
Protak Scientific are the world exclusive manufacturer of an industry changing technology called Enzyme Indicators (EIs). EI’s are a bio-tech diagnostic tool used in manufacturing primarily in the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare sectors.
Due to business expansion, there is a current vacancy for an International Business Development Manager to join the Commercial Team.
Background to the role
Protak currently supply many of the Top 20 Pharma companies, CDMO’s, the NHS, OEMs, Engineering companies and Consultants. This means this role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working on international projects for leading multinational companies.
You will be a member of the Commercial Team reporting into the Global Business Director.
Hybrid: Based in Redhill, Surrey and WFH (days negotiable).
Travel: There will be approximately six international exhibitions to attend per year in Europe and the USA.
There will be occasional UK customer visits. Customer projects are run via MS TEAMS.
Purpose of the role
To help the business grow by generating revenue and establishing positive relationships with customers internationally through:
- Seeking out, engaging and managing new customer projects that result in sales of EI technology in several market segments. (80%)
- Account managing and growing a small number of existing accounts by selling into additional EI end applications, wider manufacturing life cycle stages or additional plant locations within those customers. (20%)
Responsibilities
- Developing the business in line with the sales and marketing strategy.
- Planning, presenting and leading new projects managed through multiple customer stakeholder relationships often falling within the following functions; technical validation, engineering manufacturing, quality, procurement, senior production management, NHS Pharmacy leads.
- The management and reporting on an effective customer pipeline through the CRM. Communicating weekly to the Business Director and occasionally the entire Senior Management Team – sales forecasts, new project wins and identifying project hurdles so as to not extend the sales cycle.
- Working closely and collaborating with the Technical Director to gain best outcomes at Techno-commercial meetings with customers.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Science or Engineering Degree, including a minimum of 4 years’ experience in B2B Technical Sales or B2B
Marketing/Business Development/Account Management/Project Management.
or
5+ years’ experience in a Technical B2B environment from the Life Sciences sector, or OEM manufacturer or Pharma Engineering or General LS manufacturing.
Plus
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Knowledge and experience of using CRM’s.
- Other European languages a plus.
- Knowledge of Bio-decontamination a plus.

There is a current vacancy for a Marketing Communications Manager to join the Commercial Team.
Background to the role
Protak operates in several market segments and currently supplies many of the Top 20 Pharma companies, CDMO’s, the NHS, OEMs, Engineering companies and Consultants.
We are at the point of inflection and are now looking for an individual to help continue our growth as we push forward to make EIs an industry standard.
This means there is a wide variety of MARCOM activities needed to meet the business requirements. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to run their own department and manage diverse marketing projects with the CEO, Technical Director and Business Director.
You will be a member of the Commercial Team reporting into the Global Business Director.
Hybrid: Based in Redhill, Surrey, UK office and WFH.
Travel: There will be infrequent travel to UK/Europe.
Purpose of the role
To support the growth of the business by enabling greater internal and external understanding of Protak’s Products and Services through the management of the Communications Plan.
Responsibilities
- Develop the business in line with the Marketing Strategy.
- Manage the appointed Marketing Agency alongside the CEO.
- Manage the website, including its maintenance, continual design and content development.
- Work closely with the Technical Director to produce technical written content for all Editorial Marketing activities with a particular focus on the preparation of Customer Case Studies.
- Own and support the Commercial and Technical teams with a number of key projects; Webinars, Exhibitions, Industry Presentations, Videos, Literature, Slide kits, Promotional items and other MARCOM activities.
- Plan and manage all PR and social media activity across all channels.
- Plan and deliver annually the Global Events Program.
- Work alongside the Lead Generation Manager to create effective mailing campaigns using MailChimp.
- Manage all in-house MARCOM activities such as customer surveys, change controls, newsletters, seasonal items etc.

Definition:
Responsible for successful Protak product delivery and adoption. Ensuring a robust, scientifically based delivery of Protak products to our users globally. To manage and execute Protak Projects both internally and externally, taking responsibility for the complete project to stakeholder satisfaction.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
As a Protak product focused specialist, the role is to develop, advance and lead customer understanding of our tAK products and technology. Bringing existing knowledge and experiences into the company, leading projects that further the foundational understanding of the product and ensuring our products exceed industry, customer and regulatory expectations. Delivering and creating a culture of continuous improvement throughout the company. Leading the company to achieve scientific adoption and understanding of our products and supporting business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and Development
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of customer adoption projects and roll out programs.
- Lead the Pharmaceutical Industry in understanding the EI technology.
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects, reviewing and communicating the impact on Quality Management Systems (QMS).
General and Task Management
- To grow a high level of EI product knowledge that you can effectively deliver to customers.
- Understand all aspects of gaseous (predominantly hydrogen peroxide) bio-decontamination processes including associated validation strategies to lead customers in technology understanding.
- Have existing knowledge of hydrogen peroxide cycle development and validation using conventional methods.
- To have at least a basic microbiological understanding but be willing to learn and advance to a detailed and strong capability relating to Biological Indicators and our technology.
- Introduce new systems and procedures where appropriate.
- Train others in all aspects of the EI technology and associated validation.
- Undertake regular internal and process audits.
- Be willing to travel and support customers around the globe as needed.
- Have a good report writing capability.

- Significant experience in an aseptic pharmaceutical production / manufacturing environment is advantageous and desirable.
- Any microbiological and validation skill or experience is a distinct advantage.
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical quality management.
- Experience of leading a team in a medical device / pharmaceutical quality environment.
- Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers.
